GC America CYTRANS® Case Competition Challenge
Official Rules
Welcome to the GC America CYTRANS® Case Competition Challenge (the “Challenge”)! The goal of this Challenge is to allow periodontal graduate students with the opportunity to submit a case study of the CYTRANS® product, and potentially win cash or grant prizes!
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CHALLENGE, HOWEVER, ANY PRODUCT USED DURING PARTICIPATION IN THIS CHALLENGE MUST BE OBTAINED/DRAWN FROM AN INSTITUTION (AS DEFINED BELOW). A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
The submission period for then Challenge begins November 1, 2025 at 12:00:01 AM ET and ends October 1, 2026 at 11:59:59 AM ET (the “Submission Period”). Following the Submission Period, each Entry will be judged according to a judging process, detailed below, spanning from approximately October 16, 2026 – October 25, 2026. (the “Judging Period”). Winners will be announced on or around October 28, 2026. The Submission Period and the Judging Period are collectively referred to as the “Challenge Period”. The Challenge is sponsored by GC America, Inc., 3737 W 127th St, Alsip, IL 60803 (“Sponsor”).
ELIGIBILITY: The Challenge is open to all legal residents of the United States:
- Who are 18 years of age or older at the start of the Challenge Period; and
- Who are graduate periodontal students or oral maxillofacial surgery residents at an accredited university, college, or institution in the United States (collectively referred to as an “Institution” in these rules) enrolled for the 2025-2026 academic year; and
- Who are in good academic standing with the Institution where they attend; and
- Who have received permission from a Course Director or equivalent stakeholder at the Institution where they attend that they may submit an entry into the challenge prior to submitting an entry.
Employees, directors and officers of Sponsor, and their immediate families (spouses and siblings, parents and children and their spouses) and household members are not eligible to participate. The Challenge is void where prohibited by law. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
HOW TO ENTER. To enter the Challenge, an Entrant must submit a written case study (“Case Study”). Please see “Entry Criteria” section below for additional technical requirements regarding the Case Study, and “Judging” section below describing how entries will be evaluated. All Entries must be submitted during the Submission Period. Entries must be HIPAA compliant and must be submitted to Sponsor via email at cytrans.challenge@GC.dental.
Please note that any submissions found to not be HIPAA compliant (as determined by Sponsor) will be immediately deleted by Sponsor and will not be considered for judging in the Challenge. Further, any participants who submit non-HIPAA compliant entries or other materials will be immediately disqualified from the Challenge. Further, please note that entering into the Challenge may qualify/require the participants identify be disclosed or have their personal information filed or otherwise submitted to Open Payments in compliance with the Sunshine Act.
All material submitted by Entrants during the Submission Period shall be referred to herein as the “Submission” or “Entry,” collectively the “Submissions” or “Entries.” All Entries must be received by the end of the Submission Period. Sponsor is not responsible for incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete Entry of information by participants; lost Entries or transmissions, interrupted or unavailable network, server, or other connections; scrambled transmissions or other errors or problems of any kind whether mechanical, human, or electronic, technical malfunctions or the computer hardware, software, or any combination thereof; or problems associated with any virus or any other damage caused to Entrant’s systems.
Entrants are permitted, but not required, to submit materials and/or ideas to Sponsor between November 1, 2025 – October 1, 2026 (the “Pre-Review Period”) for informal guidance as to whether those materials and/or ideas are within the scope of the Challenge. The Pre-Review Period will be conducted solely at Sponsor’s discretion. Any opinions or other guidance issued by Sponsor as a result of the Pre-Review Period is not an express or implied endorsement of the Entrants materials and/or ideas. Submitting materials and/or ideas during the Pre-Review Period does not guarantee that an Entrants idea will ultimately be accepted, does not guarantee that the final Entry will be deemed to comply with these Official Rules, and does not in any manner guarantee that an Entry will be deemed a potential winner.
ENTRY CRITERIA. All Entries must:
1. Include a detailed written discussion and images of a case study involving use of Sponsor’s CYTRANS product within the 510(k) indications for the CYTRANS product (socket preservation, ridge augmentation, periodontal defects such as 2 wall, 3 wall, sinus lift, and/or peri-implantitis).
2. Not include any other particulates besides the CYTRANS product (other biologics and membranes are permitted).
3. Be accompanied by a written statement that the Entry is HIPAA compliant.
4. Be accompanied by a written statement from the Entrants Course Director or equivalent stakeholder at the Institution where they attend that (A) they have received permission to submit the Entry; (B) that the Entry does not violate any Institution policies; that (C) the Institution agrees that the Entry can be used by Sponsor as described in these Official Rules.
5. Be written or typed in the English language.
6. Specifically identify any third-party intellectual property (including patented inventions, trademarks, and/or copyrighted materials) mentioned, described, or otherwise included in the Entry.
7. Not include any of the following:
a. words, images or statements that are or could be considered offensive to individuals on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability status, veteran status or any other class or characteristic protected from discrimination by the laws of the United States or any individual state within the United States, or that promote bigotry, racism, hatred, harm or discrimination against any such individuals;
b. threats (real or perceived) to any person, place, business, group or entity;
c. materials that depict illegal acts or that are sexually explicit, libelous, obscene, violent, hateful, slanderous or defamatory;
d. other inappropriate content that includes, but is not limited to, any display of smoking, alcohol, illegal drugs, firearms, harming of animals, nudity, or provocative/suggestive outfits or poses;
e. name, likeness, voice, or other indicia identifying any person other than Entrant including, without limitation, celebrities and/or other public or private figures, without that person’s written permission; or
f. content inconsistent with Sponsor’s reputation and image.
Entries that do not meet the Entry Criteria above may be disqualified at Sponsor’s discretion. All decisions regarding the Entry Criteria are made by Sponsor in its sole discretion and are final.
PRIZES:
Three Prizes will be awarded to the top five (5) entries in the following amounts as selected in accordance with the Judging section of these Official Rules:
1. First Prize: $5,000
2. Second Prize: $3,000
3. Third Prize (3 total): $1,000 each
Total ARV of all prizes: $11,000.
NOTE REGARDING PRIZE AWARDS: Prizes will be awarded either (A) to Entrant via check, via electronic transfer, or via another method to be determined at Sponsor’s sole discretion (“Direct Award”); or (B) in the form of a grant to the Entrant’s Institution (“Grant Award”) if a Direct Award is not allowed by the Entrant’s Institution. All Entrant’s acknowledge and agree that a Grant Award may be required, and that Sponsor is not responsible for the Institution’s policies or other requirements with respect to award of the prize. Entrant is fully responsible for determining if their Institution will permit Entrant to receive a Direct Award prior to submitting any Entry.
All prizes will be awarded subject to the potential winners’ execution of an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release within 14 days of the date such notice is sent or such other date set by Sponsor. Failure to respond within the applicable time period will result in forfeiture of prize. No substitution or transfer of any prize or election of cash in lieu of any prize by any Winner will be permitted. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any prize of equal or greater value. Prizes are nontransferable. All federal, state, and/or local taxes are the sole responsibility of Winner.
JUDGING: The odds of winning depend on the number of Entries received and the relative merit of the entrants as demonstrated through judging by Sponsor’s selected judging representatives. Entrants will submit their Entries during the Submission Period as described above. Following the end of the Submission Period, a judging committee comprised of independent, qualified judges selected by Sponsor (“Judges”) will review the Entries and select the top 3 Entries, which will be announced on or around October 28, 2026. The selected Entries will be eligible for the prizes outlined in the Prize section of these Official Rules. All Entrants agree to accept the decisions of the Judges (defined below), which shall be binding and final in all respects.
Entries will be scored by Judges based on the following equally weighted criteria, and the top three (3) scoring entries will be selected as potential winners:
1. Complexity/Case Innovation
2. Documentation
3. Clinical Outcome
4. Case Presentation
5. Patient Satisfaction
SPONSOR’S RIGHTS IN SUBMISSIONS. Entrant acknowledges and agrees to assign all right, title and interest in and to the Submission and all concepts and ideas expressed therein to Sponsor in exchange for consideration in the Challenge, except for any underlying raw patient data that was included as part of the Entry. Entrant further agrees that Sponsor will possess and retain all rights, title, and interest in and to any materials, ideas, concepts, inventions, or any other physical or intellectual property that Sponsor may develop based on the Submission. Without limitation, this means Sponsor may use any Submission, and any intellectual property developed therefrom, in whole or in part, for the purpose of Sponsor’s development of its own ideas, concepts, products, services and/or sales without further compensation to Entrant, and whether or not associated with this Challenge. Each Entrant grants Sponsor the rights to use Entrant’s name, voice, and/or likeness for the purpose of inclusion on a winner’s list, and in advertising, trade, or promotion, without further compensation worldwide in perpetuity and in any form of media including the Internet, unless prohibited by law.
OTHER CONDITIONS, RELEASE AND WAIVER. By participating, you will be bound by and comply with these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor which are binding and final in
all matters relating to the Challenge. Entrants each agree to release, indemnify, defend and hold harmless Sponsor and its affiliates, subsidiaries, related companies, employees, staff, and/or any other entities or individuals associated with Sponsor with respect to the administration of the Challenge or the distribution of the Prizes, including the Challenge Judges (the “Released Entities”) from any and all liability, for loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense whatsoever, including without limitation property damage, personal injury and/or death which may occur in connection with, preparation for, travel to, or participation in Challenge, or possession, acceptance and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any Challenge-related activity. By participating, Entrants also agree to release, indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Released Entities from and against any and all claims, expenses, and liabilities (including reasonable attorneys’ fees), including but not limited to negligence and damages of any kind to persons and property, defamation, slander, libel, violation of right of publicity, infringement of trademark, copyright or other intellectual property rights.
The Released Entities are not responsible for technical, hardware, software, network or other communications malfunctions, errors or failures of any kind, lost, interrupted or unavailable network connections, website, Internet, or ISP availability, unauthorized human intervention, traffic congestion, or failed, incomplete, garbled, jumbled or delayed computer transmissions which may limit one’s ability to enter the Challenge. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, extend or suspend this Challenge should (in its sole discretion) virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention, fraud or other causes beyond its control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the Challenge. In such case, winner(s) will be selected from all eligible participants prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken. Entrants who do not comply with these Official Rules or attempt to interfere with this Challenge in any way shall be disqualified. Released Entities are not responsible for any typographical, display, input, or other error in any Challenge materials, or for any errors or problems which may occur in connection with the administration of the Challenge, the processing of entries, or in the announcement of prizes, including such error that may give an erroneous indication that a prize has been won.
IN NO EVENT WILL THE RELEASED ENTITIES BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR ACCESS TO AND USE OF SPONSOR’S WEBSITE AND/OR THE CHALLENGE, DOWNLOADING FROM AND/OR PRINTING MATERIAL DOWNLOADED FROM ANY WEBSITES ASSOCIATES WITH THE CHALLENGE. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, THIS CHALLENGE AND ALL PRIZES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
RELEASE AND WAIVER. By entering the Challenge, you agree You will be bound by and comply with these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor which are binding and final in all matters relating to the Challenge.
DISPUTES. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Entrants agree that (a) all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Challenge or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court in Illinois; (b) all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Challenge but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (c) under no circumstances will Entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and Entrant waives all rights to, claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than out-of-pocket expenses, and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, Entrant’s rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Challenge, shall be governed by, and construed under, the laws of the Illinois, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of Illinois law or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Illinois law.
ENTRANTS’ PERSONAL INFORMATION. By entering the Challenge, you recognize and agree that the information provided by you will be made available to Sponsor and use of such information will be governed by Sponsor’s Privacy Policy found at https://www.gc.dental/america/company/privacy-policy.
WINNER’S LIST. The name of the Challenge winners will be available to view at https://www.gc.dental/ for at least one month
